Charter Flights for Vacations

Public charters are ones that are open to the public, and you do not have to be a member of a specific group to participate.  They usually are to destinations during the high season for that vacation area.

You can get some very low airfares going with a public charter, but there are a number of restrictions that may apply.  Flights can be delayed four up to forty eight hours.  Since tickets are paid for in advance, overbooking is not a problem when participating in a public charter. Flights though, can be canceled up to 10 days before the scheduled departure date, and this can be done for virtually any reason.  The company can provide you with alternate transportation, or give you a full refund of your airplane ticket price.  However you will probably be paying a lot more for your replacement ticket this late in the game.

You can go through a travel agency, a tour operator, or a charter company to get the great airplane ticket prices that may be available with a public charter.  Pay by credit card, and  be very careful to assess the restrictions that apply before you decide that this is the way you are going to use to get the best air fares.  This can be a very nice alternative if you are flexible and have confidence in the company offering you the ticket.
